“Playing heavy music is how I feel alive,” starts Crossfaith vocalist Kenta Koie. “We want Crossfaith to be the band making music that no one has ever heard before.” And from the openingbattle cry of ‘Digital Parasite’ through the unifying anthem of ‘Truth of Insanity’ to ‘Your Song’sglitching sorrow, their ‘SPECIES EP’ sees them breaking new ground.Crossfaith formed in 2006 and released their debut album ‘The Artificial Theory For TheDramatic Beauty’ in 2009 followed by ‘The Dream, The Space (2011), ‘Apocalyze’ (2013),‘Xeno’ (2015) and ‘Ex Machina’ (2018). Each one saw the band blend their love of punk rock, metal and electronic music in daring new ways. “Good art is how I express myself to otherpeople. It’s hard to talk from the bottom of my heart, that’s why I write these songs.“And their ‘SPECIES EP’ is the start of a brand new era for the band. “We’re always trying to findsomething new,” he reasons. While ‘EX_MACHINA’ had a very specific concept, ‘SPECIES EP’puts the focus on the song. “Each one has a strong character. We always talk about waking up tosee the truth, and encouraging people to find themselves with our music. There are no barriers,”which is where Crossfaith are at their very best.
